Parenting is a learning experience. There is no rule that once you become a parent you suddenly know everything. Indeed, there is no guarantee that you’ll have an idea  what you are doing. Parenting is something that should work. You have to gather advice, knowledge and skills of parenting  so that you can use them in your care.

Raising children today is very difficult. Most of the time, the children set their values now from various sources such as friends, internet, direct TV or from anybody they encounter every day. Many parents think it is more important for a child to be a friend than to be their parents. Your children will have friends. They NEED their parents. It is okay to be friends with your child, but you should always know when a parent is required to be present.

One of effective parenting skills that you need is beeing consistent. Why do you need to be consistent? The kids, when they try to learn something try to see patterns. Patterns help them remember things. If you’re consistent to your rules, they will remember what you want them to learn. Another skills you need to do is  keeping your words. If you say something, you must be concerned and you have to do it. If not, they will not believe you when you say it to them. In other words, this means they will not follow you.

Children must have limitations. They must understand clearly what the limits and what are the consequences if they cross the limits. If your child abandon  the rules, they need a consequence for that action. Take time for family time. A family dinner is one of the best places to talk about your day and your relationship with your growing child. Building open honest communication with your child is important.
